BASIC FUNCTION:
The successful candidate will be responsible for lecture and/or laboratory instruction in Automated Systems including but not limited to manufacturing, electrical automation, engineering, supply chain technology, and mechanical courses. The assignment may also include other courses in the area of Electromechanical and Industrial Technology including specific accelerated training programs. Develops and maintains a professional rapport with diverse school/campus constituents and industry professionals. Provides leadership in developing/modifying curriculum and program development, college and industry collaboration, government agency partnerships, and student outreach.
EDUCATION:
A bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant professional experience is required; or an associate degree and six years of relevant professional experience. (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions.)
EXPERIENCE:
Higher Education teaching experience or industry training experience is required. Industry experience in an automated warehouse is desired. Demonstrated expertise in industrial maintenance, complex conveyer systems, robotics, sensors, optics, mechanical drive systems, programmable logic controllers, automated systems, material handling equipment, workplace safety, facility engineering/operations, electrical motors, oral/written communications, blueprint reading, basic welding, microprocessors/microcontrollers, hydraulics, and pneumatics is required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
OSHA preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The instructional assignment will include lecture and laboratory classes in automated systems and related disciplines, the incorporation of industry certifications into the curriculum, and will provide students with interactive simulations. Some meetings or instruction may occur off-site.
- Assignments are based upon the assumption of workload of forty hours weekly, including but not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, student/faculty evaluations, office hours, institutional service, committee work, curriculum and program development, accreditation support, student activities, maintaining industry expertise, course and program assessments, program review, developing and maintaining industry contacts.
- Collaborate and assist with outreach to community and under-served student populations.
- Collaborate in the implementation and reporting of grant funds including the regional Department of Labor grant work plan, National Science Foundation National Center for Supply Chain Technology Education, and other related grant objectives.
- Coordinate the maintenance of Automated Systems laboratory hardware, software, and instructional equipment.
- Modify/align course offerings with other community colleges to enable seamless transferability.
- Other responsibilities include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
- Institutional service activities are expected of all faculty members.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- This is a categorically-funded long-term temporary, non-tenure track position. Position is contingent upon available funding.
- Salary is commensurate with academic preparation, and full-time teaching or equivalent experience with a range from Column C, Step 1 to Column H, Step 6 of the current Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Medical and dental benefits are provided for the employee and dependents.

- Orientation to the college is required as is adherence to college Improvement of Instruction Policy.
- Maintain broad knowledge of academic or occupational area and design pedagogy related to learning outcomes.
- Responsible for all other conditions of employment required of full-time faculty members such as a willingness to be involved in community activities and active participation in college committee work, student activities and other support services, and liaison with appropriate civic professional groups.
